FS#7313 - GTS routing
Incident Report for Network & Infrastructure
Resolved
Following the migration to PLIX last night, we are experiencing a routing issue with GTS AS 8246. We have temporarily made some modifications in order to re-route teh traffic via Frankfurt. We are investigating.

Update(s):

Date: 2012-10-01 14:18:39 UTC
We have reduced the ARP timeout on our router and it seems to allow the ARP entry to stay updated on the router from GTS. BGP peering session between GTS and OVH is stable since 3 days now. We restore the announcement of our prefixes. The traffic in the sense GTS > OVH is now flowing again through Warsaw.

We keep working on the definitive resolution of the problem. The GTS > OVH flow are currently going through Frankfurt because we interrupted our announcements to GTPS on PLIX. The trafic OVH > GTS is going normally by the PLIX to Warsaw.

We have established a BGP session but the session is not stable due to ARP problems between our equipment. The GTS router doesn't manage to fix the arp to our router. We keep working with the GTS and PLIX noc on this issue.

Date: 2012-09-13 10:03:35 UTC
We have stopped our announcements to GTS on PLIX since last night in order to maintain the connectivity between our networks. We are in contact with the GTS noc. There seems to have a problem between our peering routers (ARP) in Warsaw. We are first going to establish a direct BGP session between our networks in order to better monitor the interconnection.

The problem still occurs. It's not due to a misconfiguration, only GTS > OVH traffic via PLIX seems concerned. We have contacted the GTS noc in order to work with them to fix the issue.

Date: 2012-09-12 15:06:35 UTC
We have identified a misconfiguration on the new var-5-6k router that was in conflict with var-1<>fra-1/5 links, which are currently in production. The routing with GTS has been impacted due to the fact that we are peering with this AS on DEC-IX in Frankfurt and PLIX in Warsaw.
