FS#5911 —orange peering
Incident Report for Network & Infrastructure
Resolved
We have been informed about connexion problems from
Orange 3G network to OVH.

We think that the origin of the problem may be because we have enabled peerings with Orange
in the region. But it may be also because of
upgrade works of the router th1-1-6k to th2-5-6k

Update(s):

Apparently it's fixed. Good.

Date: 2011-10-15 03:01:06 UTC
We have just added it on Spain, where we have 1x10G also with OTI.

Well, we have found the origin of the problem,it has been fixed.

So:
we migrated all links from th1-1-6k to th2-5-6k.
th1-6k-1 have been migrated to th2-5-6k except OTI. OTI must migrate its link soon.
And ,Orange 3G does not use the peering AS3215 we have in France, they use ITO as transit (it doesn't make sens ,but this is how it is).
And, Paris port is down, they send traffic through our transit ports in Frankfurt (we have 4x10G).Then, Germany protections
against the Synflood do not recognise the 3G proxy of France. It is not possible to perform a traceroute to check what was we described, but it's probably that. So we just added the IPs of 3G proxy of Orange on the protections against Synflood on routers in Germany.

We are waiting for the confirmation from the Orange team if fixed.Unfortunately they can not perform traceroute either. So it's a theoretical/mental resolution. Let's see if that's it.

We are waiting for the orange feedback.

Date: 2011-10-14 11:37:06 UTC
The same.
The problem is that we cannot traceroute to OVH from a 3G network so we do not understand where does the traffic come from.
Going out to Orange 3G, we do not use the peering because strangely Orange does not announce their network 3G AS28708
Traffic was rerouted through another transit supplier to see if it's better. The same.

We really think that it is not caused by OVH.

The same.We reactivate on gsw-2-6k.
We cease the advs in our network area in Lille, Lyon and Bordeaux.
Traffic will go up to Paris to arrive to our network on the 2 peerings in Paris.

Date: 2011-10-14 11:19:14 UTC
The same.
We renounce on th2-5-6k.We cease the advs on gsw-2-6k

Date: 2011-10-14 11:15:22 UTC
We have reproduced the problem.

We cease the ads on an OVH peering in Paris.
